Well all I can say is second time lucky...Just got back and I am happy to report there were no flight cancellations, no missing baggage and we are all back in one piece.

On day 1 and 2 we were blessed with blue skies and knee deep powder after a big dump the day/night before we arrived.

Day 3 gave us heavy snow and fog in the morning with poor visibility and in the afternoon it brightened up. The rest of the week had periods of cloud/light snow and sun but visibility was good.

Snow conditions were fabulous all week although some slopes did get a bit icey on the last day as temperatures had dropped significantly overnight. Unpisted runs developed very very big moguls as we found out to our horror on day 4 when we thought we would take a short cut down the Fuma. We made it down very slowly and in a girraffe like fashion. The moguls were about 4ft high, at one point when we were at opposite sides of the piste we were unable to see each other over the moguls!

The Fuma (Not a good picture to show just how difficult the moguls were)

In this photo you can see one of the moguls at the very bottom of the Fuma to get an idea of how big they were!

Having done the Sarenne before we decided to do it on the afternoon of the first day (It was our friends first time in ADH). This was a big mistake as the whole run (Yes I mean the whole run) was mogulled. We skied it well but my God were we knackered by the end of it!

We worked hard and managed to cover all ski areas except the Tunnel, we were told that the Tunnel was very similar to the Fuma only longer. We decided that we would give it a miss.

My favourite runs were over at the Signal De L'Homme and Auris. (Tony, we also really liked the route you suggested, especially the Dome run.)

Our chalet and host was great, no complaints about the food and location and we could literally ski to and from door.

I wouldn't stay there again though, as it's just too far away from ADH center and there is nothing open after 9pm in Bergers apart from the Tiger cafe which is (IMO) sh*te!

One of our party is a boarder so we also spent some time in the snow park which was really good fun. (My new profile pic shows me having fun there!)

ADH is an excellent place if you want to ski off piste, there are so many oppurtunities especially for those of us who don't want to get lost!

We didn't need to eat out apart from one evening (Chalet hosts night off) We went to Lounge 21 as they provided a free taxi from the chalet to the restaurant and back. They even allowed us to go for a drink elsewhere after our meal and we just had to let them know where we were going and what time we wanted our lift home. The food was fabulous and not too overpriced. The bill came to £180 for four of us and that included two courses and drinks (two of which were cocktails at 9 euros each). We found a really nice pizzeria in Auris which had a very reasonably priced lunch menu.

I also ate lots of hotdogs!

All in all it is a fabulous place, we had an excellent time, with brilliant company and I would definitely go back. They only thing I would change (if there is a next time) would be stay somewhere central.

Role on Andorra trip...2 weeks 6 days!

Nice one SB. Looks like the weather was good, esp those first couple of days.
The chalet is in Altiport which is 1 of the reasons we chose it, as its out of the town which meant we didnt go out drinking and spending money! We just drank in the chalet and made use of the hot tub and sauna and free wine!
But yes, its a long trek into town, but the location for the skiing is perfect and was the main reason for picking it.
However, I would not use Ski France again for obvious reasons, but also because the food on offer and the portions we were given were nothing like as good as when we have used Skiworld.
You were also lucky in that you had the biggest and best room which would have made a difference I am sure!

As for the skiing, I think you are spot on that its a great varied area with some fantastic off piste opportunities. I'd definitely go back but only after I have explored a few other places first. Its not expensive for a French resort either.

Nice photo doing the jump!

So, any favourite run in particular?
Whats your view of the Scare Chair?

Good pics, nice little report, glad you had a good time kidda.

I couldn't see what all the fuss was about regarding the scare chair. It just seemed like any other chair to me.

I've not really got a favourite run, I quite enjoyed the reds and blues over in Auris and I really liked the Poutran and L'Omlet. The Sarenne is fantastic in nice powderry/sunny conditions, we took the other group on it on the last morning, it was fabulous and we couldn't believe how quickly we did it.

Our chalet host served up bog portions, I wasn't able to finish my desert on any night because I was so full. The Raclette was good! He was also generous with the wine, told us to help ourselves if we wanted after dinner when he had left. He's cakes were delicious!

I think this counts as knee deep:

I don't have any of me or us skiing in the knee deep powder as I forgot to take my camera so I am only able to copy pictures taken by my friends from and put on facebook.

I had a goal at the beginning of the season to be able to ski in powder, I tried hard and never fell (In the knee deep stuff) and now I am happy I have the confidence to keep at it and I know I will progress quickly.

We aren't all born wearing skis pablo!
