It's got lot's of restaurants essentially a nice Alpine town.
I'm off there the week after next for the first time.

Everyone who I know who has been there says it's a lovely place.
The ski area isn't vast but as my wife isn't a confident skier or mileage basher (only her 3rd week having rupture her ACL on the last day of her first week on the snow) so that's not an issue.

Apparently there are also a number of nice shops so as a father of 2 teenage daughters I'm starting to panic!

the lift pass should include 2 days in La thuille which is definitely worth a visit (free bus from the bus station)and also gives you a day in Chamonix...i liked the place and would go again

Hi,

ive often driven past courmayeur to various destinations in Italy wanting to stop and ski but unfortunately not had the chance.Stopped for food I would say that there are some cracking restaurants , if the skiing is as good as the food and wine then you will have a great time ! :D

Don't miss out on a ride up the Aguille du Midi. You will probably need to go to Chamonix, and up the main cable car, as I've never seen the gondola from Helbronner open in winter. Depending on your ski skills, you might want to join a group and ski the Vallee Blanche. Either way, a ride up the cable car will take your breath away. Do not miss :D

Definately worth skiing a day in Chamonix.

In Courmayeur itself, there is a weekly market, as well as the usual ice rink, sports centre etc. Lively apres ski, plenty of restaurants and pubs etc - you will have a great time!!

Went there earlier this month and it was great. The six day lift pass also covers a day in Pila,a day in La Thuile and the use of the Monte Bianco cable car from where you can ski the Vallee Blanche(€80). Free ski buses get you around.
Courmayeur itself is a lovely little town but bear in mind just about everywhere closes around 1 to 4 p.m!
Sorry, can't help with your travel problems but, assuming you do get there,I'm sure you'll love it.
PM me if you want to know anything specific. Colin.

It's quite a nice town, and it still feels relatively authentic which is nice if that's what you're looking for. Some of the skiing is pretty challenging, but the proximity to Chamonix is good if you can afford it.
