Really struggling to find a hotel just off the AutoRoute that isn't booked out. We would like to stop around Dole. Any Ideas?

Thanks Wickers. The Ibis at Dole (and the opposite Etap) are booked. This is the problem. Looked at the place you mentioned but it is off the A31 and we want to be on the A39 after Dijon.

If you want to be on the A39, then try Dijon Sud. We used that as the o/n for many years when heading to France. Lots of hotels, Varying standards and prices to suit all budgets. M/way is close, but not close enough to keep you awake!

But you can also pick the main Geneva road from Macon, if you do that you have the option of accommodation in Chalon Sur S, Nuit St G, Beaune, milage wise there is no great difference I do that route every year, look at the map it is an option, as for Dijon Sud I guess my best description is "Industrial park".

We tend to travel for the skiing, not too fussed about the French ambience in the en-route flop for the night.

We are slightly different we arrive about 4pm so after being in the car for six hours the kids need to be able to stay someway where we can have a walk around, Dijon sud did not give us that.

We've stopped in Formule 1 en route to/from Les Gets in the past. Cheap & Cheerful, but they always did the job & there are a lot of them. Not sure which ones we used though.
The plan is.... there's no plan!
