Hi Guys,
We might be panicking over nothing, but having left behind the slopes of Pamporovo due to bad snow conditions in 2007 and 2008 we headed to Andorra in Jan this yr and have booked again for the end of Jan 2010.
I've been keeping and eye on the snow forecasts and there seems to be very little snow at the moment. Is it too early to be worried or should we be ready for a rubbish season????

I was there 2 weekends ago and they were really struggling. As long as there is good snow between now and when you go you will be fine. Andorra looks a good place from what I saw, as long as you are either doing a couple of days in Arcalis or on the Grandvalira area.

Good news is that despite a long dry period, the cold conditions meant that a good portion of the snow that fell earlier this month remained in place espiecially where aided by cannons. Currently things are warming up but despite fears of rain there has been 20-30cm new snow over the last few days and looking at the webcams today it looks like another good dump is currently underway. The only concern is as the warmer temperatures take hold in the next few days there is the possibility of rain, but from what i have read (via google translate of various forums nevasport, andorramania) the risk of major rainfall seems to be diminishing.
I certainly wouldn't worry if you not going for another month, im heading to Andorra on the 3rd Jan and im not concerned.

Got back from a week in Arinsal yesterday- snowed every day except Thursday (rain- not a great ski day) and Friday (sun- fantastic ski day). We had every snow condition from soft powder after substantial dumps overnight to slush brought about by the rain to a hard crust covering soft snow underneath. Skied every day and had a great time.

We fly out on the 10th jan hope there will be enough snow and slopes open as last time we went it was 2007 and there was not alot of snow. fingers crossed!
