Hi All!!
I need to be able to ski rather than roll down the slopes in 3 months.
I`m now a human spare tyre in need to fit into my already XXL sized ski attire.
All my inmense humanity would be grateful for some not very complex exercises and "mise en point" to both lose weight and increase the muscle fitness for ski.
I lazily stopped going to the sports centre when came back from skiing in WONDERFUL SOUTH LAKE TAHOE RESORTS 6 months ago. Typical excuses:jetlag, Easter, mañana,mañana.
I am positively resoluted and commited to start a diet and restart my swimming( used to swim 2500 m daily, those were the days....) and gymm.
Could work out 6 or 5 days a week along 1h30 min, maybe 2 hours.

Please I know there would be a charitable soul out there with a passion to
make this world, and me, lighter.
Thanks

I too am of the fully figure but my friend you are what you eat, I have lost a stone by a lower fat diet and taking up cycling you can do the same, cycling will also build up the stamina in your legs which will help with the aches and pains of the first few days of skiing 8)

Thanks Ian.
I´m thinking about either the Atkin´s and low calorie combination or the Luton &Dunstable Hospital Diet(very tough).
Would you grant the same benefits to the "nautilus" station or the "ski country"(elipsoidal treadmill)? I found the last one to be a good fat burner.
Any gymm apparatus to strengthen the thighs and quadriceps?.

Grateful for any advice.

With exercise I really get bored very quickly I would suggest you do a mix bit of gym , cycling even walking to the shops, but don't diet to lose weight quickly other wise you will not keep it off, as suggested I'm still losing a pound a month and it is staying off it really is about looking at what you eat and taking exercise, good luck 8)

I'm feeling a bit rotund at the moment so am going for a sensible eating plan (pizza and beer last night was my last extravagence) and getting on my bike to get fit for skiing.

Just say no. If you can really find 90 minutes each day to work out then you just need to eat sensibly and big gains will come fast. Cycle, gym, swim - mix it up to keep it interesting - and keep to it; you'll do just fine.

If you can find a friend who wants to trim down too then that may be the best thing you can do - motivate each other, work out and have fun; and keep thinking of all those slopes you'll be able to ski down soon... 8)

:DAs part of my pre season fitness regime......I now run to the chip shop, and leave the telly remote alone....

Seriously though after having a large Hernia repaired roughly 8 weeks ago I am now thinking it's time to try and keep old age and the middle age spread at bay...

Apart from the usual has anyone else had to get fit after a Hernia, and what can you reccommend...,I still have a twinge if i do anything too strenuous but am thinking along the lines of cycling, walking, swimming and maybe light to medium training on rowing machines etc.

I know that the important thing is PERSEVERANCE and boring diets are good only for 2 days, BUT I get cheered when results come quick.
Seeing and feeling the lose and confort fit of my trousers waist line encourages me. Had it been for me I wouldn´t it at all when on a diet; the problems is that you get Fluffy and become a "thin FAT": no muscular mass, promising nothing but a REBOUND (BONG,BONG, like a meatball-LOAF).
I tried before Atkin´s without the saturates and insisting on fish proteins and lost a lot.
I didn´t need to gasp when walking to the lifts, I could hop over fences and putting on/taking off the boots was not a "chinese work/torture", my plants didn´t suffer as now due to the weight. Ahhh, those days.
Anyway todays would be my last "non rabbit, non sparrow sized portions, starchy+fatty+boozy real meal.
God got me confessed!!
