Hello, I arrive to Wien Airport on Thursday, April 16, and need to be back by Sunday 19 April afternoon.
Where can I go Skiing?
Is Annaberg a good site? I see it is 1.5 hr trip from Wien, but will it have snow by Apr 16?
Please advise regarding a site and how to get there from the airport.
Thank you, Yaniv.

Dont know much about Austrian resorts I'm afraid.
This might be of help:

But I think you might be a bit late in the season for these resorts

Anyone else boys and girls?
If you had 3 days in Austria, starting in Vienna, where would you go?
Yaniv.

Hi Yaniv
Unfortunately, that late in the season, the Arlberg is probably the only place you would reasonably be sure of resorts being open/having snow, e.g. St Anton, Lech, etc. However, these are a very long way from Vienna . The only other thing I could suggest is to check out resorts with glaciers, such as the Hintertux or Kaprun. They may keep going a bit longer than the others and offer some skiing. I think these are still quite a trek from Vienna.
Despite it being an amazing year for snow, most of the lower resorts will keep going until Easter at best and will then close the lifts, even if there is plenty of snow cover. The problem for them is that they normally would not have snow and therefore have no bookings and not enough custom to justify the expense of keeping the resort open  While I am not an expert, I think this would include virtually any resorts within easy reach of Vienna.

Just because a country has mountains does not mean that everywhere is close to them, and Vienna certainly isn't. It would be like you arriving at Gatwick Airport and wondering how close the Scottish ski resorts are to the south of England. Vienna is in a different part of Austria to the Tyrol and Styria where the mountains are - almost East to West as Austria is a spread out country. You will need a several hour train journey to get to either area or an internal flight to Salzburg or Graz, which can be done, but incurs time and expense. It is not really a commute as such.
If I were going to Vienna, and I was there last June on a day trip from Bratislava, I would enjoy Vienna for what it is, a lovely city! Plenty to do, see, eat and drink! (and like another post said, Bratislava is only a short train ride away!)

Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!
