Can anyone recommend which ski resort meets the following criteria:
1. Close to Geneva (some of my friends are only coming for 3 days)
2. Ski in - ski out
3. High altitude to ensure good conditions fairly late in the season (we are going from 20 to 26 March)
Many thanks

Avoriaz :D Great snow through til May most years. Less than 2 hours from Geneva. Lifts and runs actually go through the village - doorstep stuff for all. Big ski area (Portes du Soleil) or local pass for beginners.

I wouldn't have said 20-26th March was particularly late in the season. Most resorts in Northern Alps have got a month to go from then.
We've been in April and had fantastic conditions for several years.
You have quite a large choice including Chamonix area, Espace Diamant and those already mentioned.
Apart from Flaine not much of the Grand Massif is ski in/ski out, though I think parts of Les Caroz will have good access.

If the last few seasons are anything to go by, then snow at the end of March shouldnt be a problem. If we look at the snow fall so far this season, then its all looking good for this season too!!! In case its of interest, i've kept a snow report blog for the last three season which covers the conditions and snow depths in the Chamonix Valley .... click here
Chamonix is only an hour from Geneva airport, so that meets your criteria, but ski-in ski-out places are harder to come by. Most of the accommodation is in the bottom of the valley (about 1000m altitude), but much of the ski areas are higher (mostly over 2000m).
Would love to offer you our place, but unfortunately its not ski-in ski-out. Although I have some friends (mark and francis) who run a nice ski-in ski-out catered chalet thats half way up the piste in Les Houches. You could try them, heres the link

Much maligned for it's architecture (right on trend, interesting history, they should make more of it) Flaine is perfect ski-in ski out and only about an hour from Geneva (or a bit more). It's always good value, especially today with the Euro rate. Last year people were bussing up from Les Carroz because the snow was so poor there. We stay at the hotel nearest to the slope (P&V Residence de la Foret, s/c) - 5 mins trek to the nearest lift, how good is that (& heated boot lockers)? If you have kids in lessons they get dropped off there. Can ski all of the Grand Massif from there - but Flaine has enough pistes for all levels. Try it!
