Hi, Just booked 7 days skiing in Jan 2010. Never been skiing before so need some advice.

We are going La Plagne Villages and staying in Chalet Joly. Is this area good for beginners, no one has ever been skiing before out of that aparty going. Were going to have a private lesson everyday but want to know if it great no total beginners because after our private lesson we wouldlike to go off and have a little play around our selfs.

Can you ski in the plagne villages area or do you have to go in to La Plagne Centre to ski.

As much info as poss would be great about the area for skiing because as i say were are all beginners and have NEVER done this before :?

Thanks

You certainly can ski in Plagne Village. It's a little above Plagne Centre, and those coming from the Belle Plagne, or Bellecote side can ski through Plagne Village to get to Plagne Centre.

However, there's a pretty good chance that your ski lessons will start from Plagne Centre. You can ski to Plagne Centre, but there is also the telebus lift to get you there if you don't feel up to it.

The whole area of La Plagne is excellent with lots for beginners.

Have a great time

For total beginners, I would always recommend going to ski school for as much of the day as the local ski schools will provide. For the first few days, you will be quite limited in what you can do (but don't worry, you will learn fast). Rather than going off on your own and risk ending up completely terrified on a piste that you are not capable of or worse still hurting yourself, I think you are better off with an instructor who will know exactly what you are capable of.

BTW, be prepared to acquire a new obsession

The skiing in La Plagne is brilliant. I would also suggest that for the first 2 days or so that you only practice on the runs that you have done with your instructer so that you dont find yourself stuck on a run you cant get down. However there are lots of nice runs around the Plagne Villages which will be great once you have got the basics

All the areas in La Plagne have runs suitible for beginers and it may be worth asking your instructer which runs would be suitible for you to do in the afternoon, they will know which blues are easy or hard which the map does not show!

Have a great time
