Hi,
I'm about to venture off on my first ever ski holiday (31st Jan) and although I'm meeting friends in the resort, I'm travelling alone. For various reasons I've had to book everything individually and now just need to complete the final 'link'... getting from Salzburg airport to Zell am see.
I've looked at the train timetable but this doesn't appear, at first glance, to be that regular.
Has anyone had recent experience of using the train on a Saturday morning (after 10am) for this journey? If so, is it simple and straightforward journey? are the trains actually regular? (I dont want to be stood around waiting for one for 2 hrs!!) or would it be worth spending the 40 euros on the airport transfer (one way)
Thanks in anticipation of some advice...

Hi StellaRew,
The trains are pretty regular, but you may have to change a couple of times depending on which service you use. You will also have to get a bus/taxi from Salzburg airport to the train station.
It might be best to catch the bus to Zell. It leaves directly from the airport and runs about 4 times a day. It's the number 260 & only costs about 11 euros each way.
My son just used it today with no problems. There might be a wait at the airport for your bus depending on your flight arrival time.
Zell is a great place for your first ski holiday. Very pretty, lots of good ski schools and easy beginner slopes. Lots of good apres ski too.
Enjoy it, you'll probably get hooked!!

the charge is €69 return as far as I can see for the coach service so the public transport is great value...it all depends on the time of your flight though
