Picturesque Ski Resort near Geneva

Hi there,

Went skiing for only the second time in 30 years last year to Courmayeur and absolutly loved it!! Me and friend booked up early and have only 4 nights away in March. We fly into Geneva and whilst Courmayeur ticked so many boxes we need somewhere closer to maximise ski time but also need value, great slopes and beautiful scenery (Courmayeur was picture postcard!) Any ideas?? We have our sights on Chamonix. Can anyone suggest any options and any advice on cheap accomodation gratefully received !!!

Chamonix can be reached in about an hour from Geneva, though it can be pricey to stay there. A cheaper option might be La Clusaz, or perhaps St Gervais.
Chamonix is good if you have a car, because you can reach the different areas quickly. Cheapest place to stay in Chamonix is probably the Vagabond.

Try Notre Dame De Bellecombe, went there this Xmas and it's a great place for skiing and scenery, relatively cheap as well ). If you get the "Espace Diamant" ski pass you will get to ski an enormous area of varied pistes. Stayed at "le village" have a look on the "Residhotel" site :mrgreen:

Look at Les Carroz D'arache or Samoens. Both are close proximity to Geneva and Samoens in particular is very picturesque.The skiiing is brilliant as it also links to the Grand Massif, including Flaine and Morillon, therefore plenty of skiiing.

For resonable accomodation try the web sites www.lescarroz.com and samoens.com. I have stayed at Les Fermes du Soleil in Les Carroz, but normally you pay for each week rather than 4 days. 690 euros for 4 people in March, accomodation only. Good luck.

Nooooooooo....... Grimentz or Zinal is the place to go :lol:

i've not heard of Grimentz or Zinal???? why do u suggest these places????

They are too far away from Geneva to match your criteria, very small resorts and hardly anyone ever goes there.

MMMmmm It's really not too far I've driven to Sion many times :wink:
