This started as just a train of thought of some of the bad ski hotels that we might have stayed in, for me it was in the spanish resort of La Molina 1400, I will not mention the hotel as I know they have had a refit since my stay. But it started with the rooms not being cleaned as the last persons toothpaste and brush was still in pride of place, in the bar on the first night someone stole my shoes, I'd just brought a new pair of boots and had my shoes in a bag at the bar went to the loo and bob's your uncle someone nicked my "daisy roots". To cut a long story a bit shorter stale rolls for breakfast, a meal which we called cat litter was the final straw, we were the lucky ones we could afford to eat out others were forced to eat what was put in front of them.
Can anybody beat that hotel ?

Never had a bad hotel while skiing but a bad one in Honiton, Devon. Had gone to Honiton to help at a charity Star Wars event and most the hotels were full so stayed at a motel.........grim, scary and the name Bates Motel springs to mind. We actually put a chair up against the door as we tried to sleep.
I'm a laydee

Mansfield, Vic is the 2nd worst hotel (claimed 4*) I have EVER stayed in... the food was horrific. I don't even remember what it was called. You could have made vibram soles out of the Kangaroo meat served..

3rd.. There was a ropey Motel in Revelstoke, only accommo left for that weekend. Think backwater low budget knife themed horror movie...

not a hotel but a chalet...

it was supposed to sleep 32 but there were 27 of us and we were very, very cramped. the "cook" had a chest infection and we kindly witnessed her coughing into our food and, consequently, at least 6 of our group ended up very ill. the boot room (hallway) was big enough for two people. lots of other people seemed to have rooms in our "private" chalet so they were continually trapsing in and out and actually eating our leftovers too.

not good. funnily enough, the most expensive ski holiday we've ever been on.

Hotel Sportinia, Sauze d'Oulx, March 2007.
Myself and Skidaddle took a last minute deal, £129 for a week HB flying out of Manchester. I guess when you pay that kind of money you shouldnt complain, but i felt sorry for those that had paid full price of around £479pp.
Sauze had no snow, which didnt help, and it was 25c the day we arrived. The hotel was not ready so we sat about having some food and drink, rolling our jeans up as it was so hot.
Eventually we were allowed in. The reception was run by a girl from Brazil, with some "unusual" smells eminating from the back room.
Our room was actually huge, but the balcony was boarded up with wood, and it looked directly into the Queens Lounge pub at the Relais des Alpes.
The partition between the 2 bedrooms was made of balsa wood, and only went 3/4 of the way to the ceiling.
We were half board, and whilst the meals were not uneatable, they were as crap as I can remember food being.
The place was run by a family of immigrant Romanians. The mother was prowling around the restaurant and doing the drinks, father worked in the kitchens, and the 2 daughters dressed like slappers were the waitresses. No one spoke a word of English, and this hotel was only used by English tour operators.
You were treated like a criminal if you did not pay for a round of drinks there and then, and more often than not mother got the prices wrong, and it ended with a heated discussion.
The 2 daughters were reasonable friendly, very flirty with all the men, but were also very moody and didnt appreciate any attempt at humour.
It made faulty towers look like a well run 5 star.
On the last night, the boyfriend of the receptionist was skulking around town trying to avoid the police, and we found out the next day that his girlfriend had been arrested and was being deported. I dont know if it was for being an illegal or because of the drugs that were obviously burning in the back room.
For £129 I got a room to sleep in, and we were very drunk every night, flights and a bus transfer from Turin so I find it hard to complain for value, but there is no way I would ever consider stopping there again.
The Hotel Sauze is not a lot better either to be fair!!!!

Many years ago now, but memorable for all the wrong reasons. The Piccolo Mondo in Bormio. The bed was so soggy I got awful backache. Appeals for a replacement to the hotel were not too successful, so I dismantled the wardrobe and used the internal shelf to put under the mattress
