Hi all

I'm taking a hire car to Belle Plagne in January and don't particularly want to pay 55 Euros for underground parking. Has anyone found anywhere else to park (e.g. Plagne Bellecote) and is it easy enough to park.

I have excess cover for the insurance so don't really care what happens to the car!

Thanks

K

Welcome to J2ski :D As far as I recall there are a few free car parks, on the way up to Bellecote, before you head up to Belle Plagne, however competition for a space is pretty fierce, as you can imagine. Don't be tempted to leave the car at the side of the road, it may get ploughed in, or worse still, towed away.

Thanks Bandit - I'll keep an eye out on the way up and return at night to push a car out of its space if necessary.

It will be chicken and egg time. If you see an empty space, do you go and unload in Belle Plagne and hope it's still free when you get back. Or do you grab it, and handball your luggage up the road. Oooh the stress

Bandit has hit the nail on the head there.

There are several 'free' parking areas dotted about the roads between the La Plagne villages.

I guess it depends when you are arriving.

The day and time will be important.

Saturday / Sundays will see the most spaces becoming free, but also the most people looking for spaces too.

If you're arriving early on a Saturday I'd risk unpacking close to your accommodation and then looking for a free space.

Reason being - most people that drive to a resort are likely to perhaps pack up and leave middayish... therefore leaving spaces for you to find.

Have fun
You'll never know, unless you try...

The road from Bellecotte to Belle plagne is not a 5 minute stroll, especially with luggage or in snow, and guess what- it's uphill!

Gondala goes from Bellecotte to Belle Plagne and is free for pedestrians, although I don't reckon they'll be too happy if you get on with suitcases.

Is it 55 euro for the week? Doesn't sound too bad to me. Also, the beauty of the underground parking is that many of the hotels/apartments have direct undercover access from the carpark to the accomodation( Lift or stairs). Handy if it's snowing heavily, and you're loading a roof rack or putting on/off snow chains.

Give the car a warmer holiday.

Yeah - sounds like I might have to consider it. Apart from free-parking I did like the idea of abusing a hire by leaving it to the elements but sounds like it won't be that easy.

I believe it is 55Euros for the week - i'll see what the weather is like on the day. Guess I'd rather there is fresh snow on the slopes than an easy treck to the apartment.

Thanks for the info/adivce.
Bon. Allez!
