Davos and Kloster: night life and beginner friendly?

Hello,
I will be in the Zurich area over Dec 6-7, 2008 and want to ski and/or snowboard that weekend. I found suggestions for Kloster and Davos, as close to Zurich and easy to get to by train. Would you concur?
Is one better than the other (for skiing and transportation (will NOT have car)?
Is there a better alternative?

Is there any night life in either of these locations?
Also, my friend has never skiied before, is this a good location for her to learn?
We are open to all reasonably cost-effective suggestions.
