Cheapest??????

Let me think......

Try walking!!!!!

Try blagging a lift on a tour operators bus (always a spare seat or 2) - Free.

Hitchhike - Free.

Public Transport.

Anything can't be classed as cheap.

Also - why Aime.. If you're ski in Les Arcs, you need to go a little further to Bourg St Maurice. But La Plagne is a good 30 mins up the mountain from Aime. So either way - make sure you plan your transfer with this in mind.
You'll never know, unless you try...

hey C&B

Im actually staying in Montalbert, La plagne and Ive read that
a taxi from aime to Montalbert is around 40 euros, which I can
cope with if there is no other transport

You mentioned public transport from Lyon to Aime. Is this train or coach?? either way that's great as Ive only found very expensive
transfers from Lyon...people carriers ect

Ive tried searching for trains from Lyon but the rail site is upgrading
and is only in french and unfortunatly i don not speak it

any help tips on the above is apreciated. I like the tour operator blag
and if i can't find a train then i may just do that.

thanks
Pete

snowmusic - I've personally used a a transfer service call - coolbus.

www.thecoolbus.co.uk

This is run by a guy called Rob - They are based in Bourg St Maurice and therefore tend to offer a good deal on transfer to La Plagne / Les Arcs / Val and Tignes etc...

It's not 5Star luxury, but who cares.

As far as public transport I'm not too sure. As I've only ever organised groups of 7 or more the price vs convience meant that having a mini bus waiting for us was always going to be the easiers option.

If however there is less than 4/5 then the price tends to add up.

I'm sure you could find a train to Aime - it must be on a 'main line' of sorts. Bearing in mind Eurostar runs from London to Bourg St M, via Aime in the winter season. Try google translation if your French is 'merde'.

I've stayed in Montalbert. It's the first village you come to on the way up to La Plagne's 'main' villages. It's quiet and quite kid friendly. If the snows good then you should have a top time. I wouldn't bother getting the lift pass that allows you over to Les Arcs - as by the time you get across you'll need to be getting back. Unless you're a 'speed at all cost' kind of skier (or boarder). We generally were waiting for the first lift in the morning (9.00am) and made our way over to Bellcote / Belle Plagne - some good runs to wake you up in the morning.

I known Montalbert / Aime la Plagne / 1800 / Centre / Belle well so...

Any other questions - please ask.

You'll never know, unless you try...

There should be a public bus - check the La Plagne website for transfers. There are no trains from Lyon to the Tarantaise without major hassles.

You could try a tour operator with flights into Lyon and see if they can give you a transfer only.
