Hi first post from me, new to skiing, whole family off to Austria in Feb for our first attempt.
I was looking for some suggestions on ski resorts that are good at Xmas, not only for the skiing, but for Xmas events. We quite like the thought of being in a ski resort for Xmas next year.
Thanks
Gary :D

Thanks for the reply, we have been having lessons at the Snowdome for months and the whole family is hooked, so hopefully we should like it.
We have children aged 13&8, any suggestions on country and or resort would be helpful

if you want traditonal chocolate box then go for either Austria or Switzerland over Xmas, Austria in particular has some quite quaint traditions which help to make the season a bit more special. Obviously the snow coverage can be a bit hit and miss over Xmas so aim as high as possible.
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

:Dhi welcome,
i agree with freezywater about Austria or switzerland for chocolate box charm, any tour operator over xmas will charge a premium, but if you look in the ads section in the Daily Mail Ski & Snowboard Magazine you find plenty of privately owned accommadation (apartments & chalets)which may offer abetter price, also or catered accommadation Ski Miquel is hard to beat, and all thier chefs are fully qualified.
Many regards and hope you have a enjoyable, safe first trip in feb although in 18 years i dont think i have ever met anyone who has been skiing for the first time and was not hooked after the week.

Hi
Yes Switzerland is a good option. For a traditional Swiss Christmas you may wish to consider the Thyon/Les Collons area.
You'll have a hard time finding a better place to enjoy winter sports than Thyon-Région having great snow from November to April it is a skiers and boarders dream. The Val d’Herens is located in the heart of the Swiss alps on the Eastern side of the four valleys system one of the largest ski regions in Europe.
The area has over 400 kms of pistes and 100 ski lifts that seamlessly link - Thyon, Veysonnaz, Nedaz and Verbier.
