Anyone have any suggestions of where to go for a long weekend skiing in Europe.

The plan at present is to fly out after work on Thursday and return on Sunday night - thereby getting 3 days of skiing in.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am off for a long weekend doing a similar thing in a couple of weeks.

Personally I think the most important thing for that amount of time is to have a short transfer time to make the most of the skiing. I am off to MOrzine, just over an hour from Geneva airport - depending on flights a possibility of skiing on both day arrive and depart.

Morzine then gives you the opportunity to ski other areas such as Avoriaz that are longer transfers.

Have fun

Thanks for that Iceman – will certainly look at that! But first it’s off to Val Thorens for a week’s skiing!

I do this regularly and have done La Clusaz and Megeve recently which were easy peasy for a weekend ski!! Hotels are flexible too outside of the holidays, and some great bargains to be had. Enjoy Val....!

We have been doing long weekends for the past few years
- arrive at Geneva at around 9am
- pick up a hire car (in the Swiss side of the airport even though you are going to France)
- drive to Les Carroz in approx 45mins/1 hour in time to get the afternoon skiing.
- If you get a late flight back you can ski all day, ski back to the car and drive back to Geneva in time for a flight at approx 9pm.
- Les Carroz links into Flaine which is an excellent ski area.

Alternatively drive to Chamonix (Les Houches is the nearest village) but you will need a car to get to the ski areas each day. The advantage is that you can choose different areas each day including Les Houches, Chamonix, Argentiere.... :D

That would be quite some feat of engineering!

Did you mean Les Carroz... which does link to Flaine?
