Using low cost carriers or my other source of air tickets, where and how do I get to one of the resorts for a couple of day's skiing at the cheapest possible place. E.g easyjet to geneva, train to somewhere, etc.
Just looking at going for a few days (I am booked to go to the Rockies in Canada early April already). Does not have to be France but would consider going to Innsbruck, Milan, Turin, Grenoble, etc.
In which month as well would help.
All itineries considered!
Closest resort to get to?

Les Carroz for the Grand Massif area is probably a tad closer to GVA and Les Contamines about the same journey time - or you could be skiing in under 30 minutes on the Jura at Lelex - Crozet or at La Col de la Faucille above Gex.

Can you narrow it down just a little for us?
There are probably 1,000 ski resorts within 2 hours of the airports you list - a choice of at least 16 weeks to go in - buses, trains and cars to get you there - and we know nothing of your ability... :?:
Best guess? Book some cheap flights to Geneva and/or Innsbruck for late January and/or anytime in March and wait to see where the snow is. Job done.

Beginner.
I assume there is good public transport from Innsbruck and geneva to the resorts.
trying to avoid the masses.

Hi there
I don't think that any resort gets much closer than La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand - collectively known as the Aravis region. Under an hour (50 mins on a good day) from Geneva, and with over 220km of piste.
Great for beginners and intermediates (advanced catered for with great off piste, but not too many black runs).
We operate short breaks there of 3 or 4 days duration staying on catered chalet basis. Details of these can be found at http://www.skiweekender.com
In terms of public transport - many of the airport buses only run on weekends and geared towards the Sat to Sat holidays, and not so good for short breaks. Always check for the "extra" costs of transfers with any package.
Hope that helps

Have you considered Easyjet or BA to Toulouse and then train to Ax Les Thermes ?

ID avoid Ax Les Thermes like the plague! Still no snow, and its in the pyrenees.. can't imagine much english will be spoken! You'll love Canada-April?... Banff?

There is 50cm in Ax Les Thermes already. What is wrong with the Pyrenees ? I have been going to various resorts there for years.
So what if English isn't spoken much. It is in Catalonia so French and Spainish isn't spoken much either :-)
The OP ask for the closest resort and you suggest Canada. Sure you couldn't find one further away.
