Hi everyone heading to Kaprun for the first time in March. Recommendations for ski hire please? Also if any of you have recommendations for restaurants/Après spots in town that would also be much appreciated

Not sure about ski hire shops, but when we were there a few years ago the Lederhosen bar at the bottom of the Kaprun slopes was probably the best apre bar we have ever been in and we have been in a lot!
Limited skiing in Kaprun itself but there are good bus services up valley to glacier and down valley to Zell.
Sure you will have a great time.
Enjoy.

Skied: On snow, On water, On mud, On slush, On ice. Oh, and on a few dry slopes.

For restaurants; last winter we had a couple of excellent meals - and great service - in the "Kitsch und Bitter" in town. There was another small place tucked away the name of which escapes me, but I'll look it up as it was worth seeking out... With one exception, we had very good food everywhere we ate - just avoid Pizzerias NOT run by Italians.

Ignore what I posted earlier. The last time I had been in Kaprun was about 10yrs ago.
However, just been there today and a lot has changed. The resort has developed hugely since I was last there. There are now quick gondola links to other areas, so not so much need to get buses. The lederhosen bar has gone, to be replaced by much larger and numerous apre bars and there are many more restaurants, bars and hotels.
The resort has grown up and now looks like a much more popular and vibrant place.
If you have not been yet, I'm sure you will have a great time when you get there.
On the down side many of the Alps resorts are suffering with warm weather and lack of snow. Runs are open, but going is heavy. There was snow forecast for this weekend 11 Feb, but it has rained below around 1000m, with snow above that level.
We need everybody to leave the fridge doors open ;->
