Alpe d’Huez to stage GIANT giant slalom
Login
This Saturday, Alpe d'Huez will stage a giant GS on the famous Sarenne black run.
Competitors will take on a mighty 300 gates over a six kilometre course, starting from the Pic Blanc at 3300m.
This test of endurance and racing skills will finish at 1800m at the Pont de Sarenne, after a vertical drop of more than 1500m.
The day will start early with competitors ascending to the Pic Blanc from 7am, for a pre-race breakfast and safety briefing. Racers will start descending from 8.30am. Later there will be a prize-giving and a BBQ, with live music at the ice rink.
To clarify, this is no April Fool: the race has been organised by the ESF and the Alpe d'Huez Ski Club and is suitable for high level skiers and snowboarders.
