snowboarding in scandinavia feb 2018

driving around scandinavia for ten days in feb 2018 and thought might try snowboarding is it easy enough to stop of at random places to hire equipment and have a go or is it better to pre book ,and is it needed lessons or can one get the how to snowboard easily enough ,i no strange questions but first time trying

I'd get a lesson or two. My two kids ski well and found snowboarding hard work and very tiring. Most of the larger Scandinavian resorts (Are, Hemsedal, Trysil, Geilo etc) will have lots of kit to hire out. I don't know about the smaller resorts that seem to dot the Swedish and Norwegian hills. You may also want to check-out the local holidays - I've been to Hemsedal when it has been really busy and you wouldn't want to start boarding in those crowds.
