Hi

Is anyone in Morzine at the moment, we are due to arrive on the 17th January, and they don't sound too good.

We are currently in Andorra, and the condition are pretty good, Not sure if to stay in Andorra, rather than go to Morzine.

Many thanks

They had 10cm yesterday, with another 15cm over the next few days (possibly more) and cold for the next week... might not be waist-deep powder but should be plenty of good skiing if you do make the change of scenery.

I was in morzine for new year straight after the big dump that came on the 27th and whilst we got to ski half the runs were closed and the ones open were poor to say the least. Even on the avoriaz side conditions were hard packed and icy at best and treacherous at worst all the way to the swiss side. My advice unless there's substantial snow at lower level keep away and go to high altitude.

I think that is unfaiR, you are talking about conditions over 3 weeks ago. A lot has changed since then, with more to come at the minute. Runs to resort are open, links to avoriaz are open links to les gets are open.

If I was deciding whether to go, yes I would. If you are driving even better, park your car at the top of the super morzine lift and ski in Avoriaz on one or two days. Or ski across to les gets

Making decisions on conditions 3 weeks ago is not accurate of current conditions

Snow is coming, it will be fine :)

My comments were based on my own experience from two weeks ago and because im skiing again shortly keeping an eye on the snow reports. According to Morzines own website very little snow has fallen since the big dump on 27 Dec and half the pistes are still closed. Research is key, always.

It hasn't changed all that much. There was some rain at lower altitudes and strong winds at higher altitudes. But some snow is on the way (lets hope without wind) and next week is expected to be cold. Not sure if it gets as cold as promised (I see on snow-forecast that freezing level has been revised somewhat) but colder than it is now is already good - especially if the coming snow storm starts warm and ends cold.
