So...im taking my first ever Ski Holiday in Soll over New Year (arrival 27 Dec). Bad research on my part because the lack of snow and green mountains wasn't quite what I had in mind. :?:
How far is it from Soll to Scheffau? I understand Crystal will be putting on transfers.
Will the transfer become a massive inconvenience? Remembering that we are total beginners and will be having lessons for 5 days (am and pm).
How far from Soll to Scheffau?

It shouldn't be a big deal TBH; sounds as if Crystal will be doing their best to get you onto some snow, there'll be plenty of others in the same boat (bus) to chat to, and - unless you're super-fit - your first day on snow is going to be tiring so it's not critical that you get a full 8 hours of lessons. 8)
An essential part of skiing is just going with what you've got, and being prepared to change plans. If every day was a powder day... they wouldn't be half as special as they are... 8)
Enjoy...

We are arriving tomorrow with a large party and Sheffau and Ellmau are the only skiable areas around Soll, both very close 10 mins on the bus.
Ski bus or Crystal ski transport who I hear have it all in hand and are doing a fine job at Soll.
See you in the Salvenstadl the apres ski will still be going on in Soll of that I have no doubt..

From memory of last year - it is only a 15-20 minute transfer.
Don't be hard on your research, just bad luck - we were there this time last year and the snow was fine - we were able to ski the whole Skiwelt area.
Scheffau is a really nice place for beginners. I'm sure you will have a great time.
Enjoy!

It's encouraging to here of someone in the exact same boat as myself. I booked Soll through directski for myself and my girlfriend's (we've skied once before) after considerable research because it seemed like a great all-rounder. I am adament that this is still the case!
I arrive on Saturday the 27th so hopefully we'll get a dump before then but regardless, I'm sure it will be great craic!
The temperatures look like they're going to fall with much less overcast weather forecasted. Am I right in assuming that this will allow for more snow-making which would enable Soll to open more slopes?
Skiwelt.at has confirmed Soll will open tomorrow with 3-4 lifts in operation.
Enjoy your trip SBurkwood!

For sure, Crystal will be operating a transfer to another area.
However, you have indicated that you are booked in for beginners ski lessons. Hence, I would email the ski school, and ask them what they propose to do.
