Hi I hope someone local can provide some advice. We are coming from Sydney Australia to ski on beautiful snow! We are flying into Salzburg on the 12th and have booked accommodation in Flachau and will have a car. Are there places we can ski in the area that have snow or should we start to look at rearranging flights etc for our trip and try to find somewhere else?

Why are the snow making machines not firing?

Advice please

Either too warm or too humid for the snow making machines as far as I can tell. I think I saw that Flachau are opening something tomorrow.

Snow due tomorrow, and for much of the week. Temps in the lower alps have fallen, and should remain sub-zero for a while.

If I were a gambling man, I would put money on the machines being switched on by Monday.

i leave from Sydney also and was getting worried but i have a week with the family first so don't get to St Anton till the 28th and as Dave Mac said above the temps have now dropped so the situation is improving fast. if you ski Thredbo or Perisher cast your mind back to how quickly it all changed after those two dumps in July we ended up with some of the best conditions in a decade

When I skied Perisher, it was pretty deep snow. There as a guest of the Warragang ski club.

Well we arrived in Sydney on a Sunday, slept Monday, bought a car and phoned job agents Tuesday, Job interview Wednesday, started work and moved into a flat on Thursday, went skiing on the Saturday.....
Very little time to choose a preferred resort!

skipping work on the 2nd day may not have gone down so well though
