Ok well personally I am a skier but have a couple of questions for you boarders. So honestly is skiing or boarding better for like back mountain bowls, double diamond blacks and black's? I personally like skiing better but want to hear other opinions!

Nope I can't ....

With the availability of various skis I would say that there is nothing in it (I ski and board just for the record).

Snow conditions rather than the type of slope would be more of a consideration, but with the availability of fat powder skis you can enjoy the pow too.

For fun where physically possible, try the board & skis.

I can only ski but I always go back country and hiking with my mates who are all boarders.

From this experience I can say - Always ski.

They rely on my skis to flatten out the snow on a traverse and if they ever need to take their board off (having hit a flat/become stuck somewhere) they'll sink straight down into the snow.

I'm struggling to find any benefits touring with boarders, other than the awesome company of my friends.
Skiing: the art of catching cold and going broke while rapidly heading nowhere at great personal risk.

Give me a pair of skis on hard packed snow but a snowboard in slushy conditions!

I think if you look at Europe's serious ski mountains, Chamonix, La Grave, Alagna you will see skiers outnumbers boarders 20+ to 1. Simply boarding sucks for touring and if you can't tour is difficult to get powder so who cares if boards float well?
Get onto something steep and boarders struggle, get onto something flat and boarders struggle.

Definitely split boarding is giving it a mini revival but go to and apres ski bar watch a video and see how many min boarders get in it? Thanks for the rocker technology and enjoy sitting on the side of piste with your soft boots and boards wondering how people are carving :-).

Of course there are some awesome boarders out there but sadly becoming a real minority. I actually saw something truly awesome from a guy with stiff boots and board other day on lift. Amazing carving from a boarder and some people are really doing some amazing steeps but in general is a bit 1990's. Like having a ford escort with a big exhaust on it. There was a time and place but world moved on.
