I'm skiing for 9 days in Vail, Colorado in January 2014. I have boots but not skis. The prices I can find for ski hire in Vail on the internet seem very high. Can someone let me know where in Vail I can hire some cheap skis. I don't need anything high performance, I am 71 years old! Thank you.

you may want to take a look at uk based companies like ski safari(there are others)and purchase ski hire through them as a package with a lift pass - definitely cheaper than hiring in the states and buying a lift pass there. They will then email you a voucher to take to a hire shop in Vail. If i recall correctly 2 years ago we hired ski's through a UK company and it still cost me £330ish for 10 days for top ski's. thats almost at the point of making it more cost effective to buy our own.

Thank you MogulMonkey. I have arranged the company who booked the holiday with to arrange ski hire. They initially quoted over £200, yes pounds for one set of skis only, no boots. I have managed to get that reduced somewhat.
The prices in Vail make the ones in Val d'Isere positively cheap & I though they were expensive (except Snowberry ski hire there)

9 days on SkiSet, (on this page) given as /£176.
I found the prices for skis to be good, so I bought a pair at the warehouse in Dillon.
