Anyone been there THIS year? I'm going in January but there seem to be some construction going on for the world cup and I don't see many people skiing, is everything all right up there?

Also I's like to know if all 4 mountains are connected, or only Planai and Hauser Kaibling?

All the mountains are connected, we used to go every year during the week of the night slalom world cup race in January and it could cope with that fine. Excellent skiing. Our favourite was Hauser Kaibling.

Hi
Don't worry about all the new building. They are busy getting ready for the World Cup but the slopes are open as usual. There are more lifts agin this year and YES, you can ski across all 4 mountains, although it would be tough to do all 4 in one day. The new gondola/space age station at the bottom of the Planai is just amazing. We first started going to Schladming in 1986 and the transformation is spectacular. I am sure you will have a great time. We have tickets for one of the World Cup events and I can't wait!

I have to ask again because you might misunderstood my question :)
I will be staying near the Planai base station (the new one I believe, where Planai planet is) so I'm planning on starting my skiing from that station, so when I get up there on top of Planai, I see there are Ski lifts that lead to Hauser Kaibling. But there is a valley between Planai and Hochwurzen, right? And on the ski map I don't see ski lift that lead there so on what way are they connected? If I want to get on top of Hochwurzen (or Reiteralm, bening even further away) can I begin my tour on the Planai base station?
Sorry for being so persistent :D

In short yes. Sometimes we start at Hochwurzen and ski over to Hauser Keibling. Its a bit of work but great. You can start at Planai and go either way, they have added new lifts to speed up the process.
See the attched below it may help.

There are gondollas link the mountains both ways, probably didnt myself very clear. There was years ago a chair lift that went through a mountain tunnel but that has been replaced by a fast gondolla. There is plenty of good skiing. Of all the Austrian resorts I have been to it is the least busiest with Brits and Irish etc.
