The credit card was put to use this morning. Our New Year trip for 12/13 now in place for Val d'Isere. Really looking forward to taking the children to the resort after we had such a good time this January. Sache black run in Tignes on my list as well as the Ok piste.

We've gone for the catered chalet option. Following on from comments in another thread, I've decided to out-weird any weirdos that we share the chalet with!

We're putting out trust in a small outfit called Ski Bonjour. Their trip advisor feedback is pretty good and all boxes are ticked.

There are two rooms left (both with bed mezzanines) if anyone wants to join us on this cheap week in the skiing calendar :D

Pleased to get this in the bag. Our trip without the kids is much easier to organise and I'll be concentrating on this later in the year. Anyone else got 12/13 organised?

Looks great, I'm tempted to jump on board too.
Wish it included travel too.

I've heard of Ski-Bonjour, came across them at the ski show I think.

Am i right in saying then chalet is £500+ pp for Jan 2013 which does not include travel or any transfers?

Correct, £559 pp from 2nd week of Jan. Holidays are going to seem very cheap once the kids are out of our hands!!

Blimey. Thats what I normally pay for a catered chalet that time of year including flights, transfers and ski carriage

It's expensive but I am, without doubt, in the "you only live once" camp. We want our holiday experiences to be as good as possible. Ski in ski out is a big things for us - I really don't like messing about with buses, treks etc before hitting the slopes and likewise want to get back to base easily at the end of the day.

We are now prioritising winter holidays over summer. Our summer trip this year is free (courtesy of in laws who have inherited some money). Next year's summer trip likely to be to Cornwall which is pretty cheap.

Interesting. I've always found holidaying in the Uk a lot more expensive than going abroad.

I'm stuck waiting for a phone call so did a quick search and New Year week, catered chalet, France inc. transport seems to be £850 minimum soon popping up over the thousand mark.

Sounds reasonable to me Bedrock at the moment.

We are already seeing from a couple of other conversations that next New Year is looking a very expensive week, easily comparable to peak half term weeks.

Thank god I am out of skiing during school holidays completely now
