1st week April

Hintertux
Obergurgl
Obertauern
Lech
Probably some others will be suggested as well, but they'd be worth looking at.
Stop somewhere in the Mayrhofen area for Hintertux, only a 20 min bus ride away and lots going on.
St Anton has the steep stuff.
You might want to look at Ischgl and Solden as well based on what you say.
Easy US blacks are Euro reds/blues depending on the resort according to my mate who skied in ADH with me last week.

I am planning a family ski trip for the 1st week of April in Austria. Any suggestion on where to go for guaranteed snow in April in Austria?

Stubai glacier above Stubaital near Innsbruck, easy skiing. Recommend to stay in Neustift

To get guaranteed snow (at any time to be fair) you need somewhere that has a glacier, Solden, Hintertux, Kaprun etc but if that's all you had to ski on the areas are limited.
As Tony mention with Lech the Arlberg holds it's snow very well genrally until the end of April, I'd also put Ischgl into this category. Who knows how April will shape up this year the way things have started? You could in theory get very good conditions in one of the lower altitude resorts but is more of a gamble if you have to book now I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks! I was hoping someone would mention Lech. We will probably go for Lech. I am flying in from Singapore so it makes a big difference to my air fare if I can book early.
Anyone can tell me any difference between Lech and St Anton? We like steep groomed runs. Easy North American black runs are what we generally like. Generally stay on piste. We have never done spring skiing before so not sure what to expect.

If you like steep, ski St Anton more than Lech. Lech is full of cruises mainly.Jhon wrote:Thanks! I was hoping someone would mention Lech. We will probably go for Lech. I am flying in from Singapore so it makes a big difference to my air fare if I can book early.
