Hello,

Has anyone had any experience of skiing in Flachau during half term, and of course this year it's a 'double' with it being Fasching week?

Both my previous trips there have been during term time and I don't think I was in a line for more than 2-3 mins all week.

I of course expect it to be busier, but will it be in the 'horrendous/unbearable' category? I am hoping that for the kids (4 and 7) it may be quite fun with lots activities etc?

Thanks,

Skimac

Have not skied Flachau, but have skied Saalbach-Hinterglemm during Fasching and it was a very funny day skiing!! If you have kids and can pack a costume great, it will add to it and they will get lots of attention, sweets, etc, at the least pack some facepaints and a funny hat!! A pair of wings is also an option!

People dress up as all sorts - I shared a chair with Bart Simpson and Darth Vader, 6 men dressed as Austrian maidens complete with dirndls and plaits, assorted vikings, Superman, bees and butterflies - you never knew what was coming over the hill next! Oh and then there was Michael Jackson and a waiter complete with tray...

I always remember getting on a ski bus in the morning with some lads from our hotel who were dressed as a chicken, a gorilla, a tiger, bear and Scooby Doo - then seeing them snowboarding down the slopes under my chairlift (and the tiger twirling his tail as he descended) and then at the end of the day in the bar having swapped heads...!!) One of those 'you had to be there moments'!!
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!
