im in mayrhofen that week ,only we will be staying in the next village , hippach . mayrhofen is a great place . loads of skiing to go at in the area. the lift pass covers the ski busses , but also the train that goes down the valley to other ski areas. my tip would be to use this on the first day instead of staying mayrhofen. the main penken lift up from mayrhofen is crazy on the first day . when i first went there 10 years ago it took us one and a half hours to get up the mountain and missed our lesson. other areas you can ski via the train are kaltenbach and zell am ziller. both great . kaltenbach has a good run down at the end of the day and zell has a great run over to gerlos which is well worth going to. they are a bit quieter than mayrhofen , so a good bet for the first couple of days until mayrhofen calms down a bit .there is another area in mayrhofen called the ahorn with some gentler runs. what hotel are you in? if you are at the right end of mayrhofen in might be better to get the bus round to the horberg gondola. certainly worth coming down that way at the end of the day , unless you finish skiing early. also included on the pass is the hintertaux glacier. get up there on the first clear/sunny day . great snow up there and some great runs. but can get very cold if the weather is poor.
night life wise , scotland yard , mo`s , sports bar in the strass hotel . the sports bar has a singer on that really gets the place rocking . first saw him there 10 years ago , he was there last year and is back this year. early doors the ice bar at the bottom of the penken lift gets packed . any questions , fire away .

What Tim said. The singer in the sports bar is brilliant and has about 1000 songs in his head! There's tonnes of trell ined runs and Ahorn does have some of the longest and quickest runs around. My top tip - there's a few small kebab and pizza places, especially one opposite the bottom the Penke lift which is good fast food and dirt cheap. Be aware all the bars are still (unless changed this year) smoking bars, but beer is pretty much same price as UK so you don't get ripped off.

last year scotland yard was mainly non smoking . only a small area is smoking. we also found another bar . not sure of the name and it`s hiden away a bit . it is on the side of a building on the right hand side as you walk up the main street. opened at 8.30 and happy hout til 10 , $2 a beer . most bars we found had some non smoking area.

Scotland Yard is a tip and yes people still smoke in there. Quite what they smoke is open to debate.

Its a great town, lots of bars, some chilled some lively. Good places to eat.

Ice Bar at the bottom of Penken gondola at about 5pm is banging.

Grab a sarny at the deli opposite the Penken gondola.

Food on the mountain isnt as cheap as it used to be, but its still cheap for a major ski resort.

Head over to Eggalm for quieter slopes and more variety, and have a day in Hintertux. Also train to Zell for a change of scene.

Kohi Bar is lively with a nightclub downstairs. For youngsters try the Brucke and the Schlussel on the bridge between Penken and Ahorn lifts.

Youll love the place.

Nowhere near as cheap as Bulgaria, but a million times nicer I am certain.

Expect to pay between 2.5 and 4 euros for a beer, it was ok when exchange rate was 1.4 a few years ago, but its still not bad in comparison to many resorts.
Many bars to happy hours.

I'd be surprised if you went back to Bulgaria after this.
