Hi! We're going to Les Contamines for a week over New Year (First time as a family so I hope the snow has arrived on the nursery slopes!!)

A couple of questions -

Can anyone recommend reliable transfer companies from Geneva Airport?

If you book ski lessons (Please snow..!!) can you find cheaper deals on Ski Passes?

Thank you for your help - we're new to all this!

Hi Pinkwindsor

I don't know if you'll find a deal on ski passes with lessons, but I think it's unlikely. You can sometimes get deals with some of the big tour operators to certain resorts when you book a package which includes equipment hire, lessons & passes.

This photo was taken in Les Contamines on 1st January this year from the top of the red run Aiguille at 2487m. Well worth getting up early to enjoy the empty slopes.

We've used Resort Rides before when travelling just down the road to St.Gervais, & found them to be excellent. Last year we drove, which made it possible to ski in all the areas covered by the Evasion pass, but if you're staying in Les Contamines you can just buy the Contamines-Monjoie/Hauteluce pass which is slightly cheaper. Last December, when conditions in St.Gervais got a bit too warm, we found much better snow in Les Contamines.

I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time. We'll be out there for Christmas & new year too, so it had better start snowing immediately!!
The plan is.... there's no plan!

Hi!

Thank you so much for the photo and information!

We're beginners so I think the 'Red Runs' will be out for us so hopefully the snow will fall at the lower levels very soon..! We've also got beginners lessons booked every morning so I don't know what happens if there isn't enough snow!

Thank you very much for recommending 'Resort Rides' too - It's been very difficult to find any reviews on transfers to les Contamines from Geneva Airport!

Resort Rides were recommended to me by 'Eggman' - who posts on here when he's not too busy golfing . Mention his name & you'll probably get red carpet treatment  !

I would laugh my head off if I say 'Eggman' recommended me!

Do you have any handy tips for the resort? For example restaurants, New Year's Eve etc?

Sorry I don't have any tips. We stay in St. Gervais so have only gone to Les Contamines to ski. We always take a packed lunch with us, so apart from the odd vin chaud or hot chocolate, we don't eat at the mountain restaurants - they aren't cheap! The village looks nice as you drive through. If you plan to eat out on New Year's eve, I suggest you book something as soon as you get there as everywhere is bound to be busy. You'll be able to get lots of information from the tourist office once you are there.

Have a lovely time - & keep doing the snow dance!
The plan is.... there's no plan!

Try this:
http://www.stbma.fr/Saison
its in French, but the numbers are there.
Then click on the UK flag for the English site and book from there.
That should work.
Bon ski!
