Staying in Montalbert for a week in Feb, apartment booked from Saturday but need somewhere to stay the night before (family of 4)....any recommendations for hotels/good places to stay in or nearby???

For one night you will have better luck down in the valley.
There are a number of Hotels in Aime and (abit further) Moutiers.
You'll be able to get up to the snow really well from the valley on Saturday morning for the snow.
No specific recomendations but search around and you will find something you like the look off.
www.booking.com could be a good place to start.

The best hotel we know and use most years [we fly out on friday and drive up to resort on saturday morning] is the florimont in faverges... it is part of the best western chain but run by husband and wife team - brilliant food and good room rates very clean and friendly
This hotel is about 1½hr from resort... further uop the hill will be expensive
