Hi, We have booked to go to Passo Tonale for the first time with Thomsons at the end of January staying at the Paradiso Hotel. I would appreciate any opinions, advice, information or recommendations regarding the resort, where to eat on the mountain etc. or the hotel.

Your advice will be appreciated. :D

We stayed at hotel Paradiso three years ago. The hotel is nice and also the food and the wine. The hotel is at the foot of the slopes however in order to reach the snow you have to get outside from the hotel at the front, walk for 20m and climb up some stairs. Despide that it is closest to the slopes compared to other hotels. When we went there there was too much fog for two days and we could not ski. There is nothing much to do at the resort so we spend most of the time in the hotel.

I went last year, with three weeks experiance and was not bored in the slightest (I'm a boarder so not into full pelt straight line speed runs, in which case you may do the whole lot in two days)
Great but quite quiet resort. As previously mentioned el bait bar up near hotel cielo blu is a nic e chilled place. We stayed in the hotel cielo blu which for the money was absolutly fine - quiet, clean, warm and perfectly adequate food.
For lunch there is a pizza place just down one of the side roads opposite the main ski ticket office which does awsome huge take away pizzas for about 5 euros. Prices on the mountain are pretty cheap where ever you go. The skiing down in ponti is deffinitly more challenging and in Jan you should be able to ski all the way down to it. All in all, I'd say a cheap and cheerfull resort, not a huge amount of charm but loads of empty pistes, no ques and good snow.

I Think you need to this in perspective Passo Tonale is a beginners resort anyone with three weeks
Skiing ability will be bored stiff, the runs are short which causes some congestion lower down, if you must go then the better skiing is down the road at Ponte Legno better reds and a couple steeppish blacks for Italy.
Good points its Italy so the food is fantastic , people are friendly and prices are reasonable.
At this height you are guaranteed snow but later in the season be warned that it is a south facing resort so gets plenty of sun so the pistes get worn and icy very quickly.

great resort, quiet but very nice, as for folk saying the runs are short... well Tonale has an 11kn uninteruppted run from the glacier to ponte di legno, 1 of the longest runs in europe! You will make what you want and with the company you keep!
