Ski Techniques and Tips for Moguls - 1 Confidence

Mogul Confidence - re-cap on Skidding

Many people when skiing moguls pick up to much speed and end up losing control and accelerating out of the bump. The main reason for this is using a similar edging routine as they do for skiing on piste. Most turns you make on piste require you to tilt your skis onto their new edges quite early in the turn. If you take that same process into the moguls, without too much mogul experience, you’ll find yourself speeding up and never feeling a continuous moguls run.

To get this speed control; learn to rotate your skis without having to slam the edge on. Also using a greater range of steering will allow you to control the speed more and make the bumps a bit more predictable. Using the skid for more of the turn in the moguls will give you speed control, time to turn and pivot into the next mogul, and more importantly build your confidence.
