Major Fire at Five-Star Hotel in Courchevel

A significant fire broke out yesterday evening (Tuesday 27 January 2026) at a five-star hotel in the French ski resort of Courchevel 1850.

The blaze began shortly before 7pm in the roof space of the Hôtel des Grandes Alpes, a five-star hotel popular with the international market.

Local emergency services responded quickly, deploying multiple fire engines to the scene. Around 100 firefighters were battling the blaze through the night.

This footage shows the firefighters in action trying to control the blaze and prevent it spreading to neighbouring buildings:



Authorities evacuated around 100 people from the hotel, including guests and staff, who were relocated to other accommodation in the resort.

No injuries or fatalities have been reported.
