Hi everybody,
i'm new in the forum and i'd like to make an enquiry, for me and the nexts reader of the forum. I'm in NZ with a working visa and looking (dreaming) a job in the skifields. Where to go? How to apply?? I just found "treble cone" on the web and look interesting... If i won't find a job, where are the best skifields where to make an "erliy season pass" for save some money and ski all the season?? In that case, I'd rather a smaller skiresort where is not overcrowded and there are nice off-piste...
Thanks everybody for advices... have a good seasons

What sort of job are you looking for?

There are a lot of resorts out there small and large and on both north and south island (although south island is the more well known for skiing of the two).

You will find that most resorts have a website and there will be a link on there as to job oppourtuities!

i don't know about it being the best resort but mt ruapehu in the north island had a early season snow pass where you got 4 half days of training, which if completed/graduated, meant you could buy a rocket pass (!) for really cheap. I can't remember the exact prices but i remember it worked out as about the equivalent of 9 day passes,,,,for a whole season.

south island has bigger resorts i'm told, seasonaire anywhere will be fun though. we worked in the cities when we were there and just drove to the snow every weekend. unless the surf was good, then we'd surf on the way to the mountain. 8) happy days!

I flew to Christchurch, hitched a ride with all my stuff to Methven (Mount Hutt) went to the Blue Pub for a beer, met 2 hot chicks who were working on the mountain & they phoned their boss & got me a job as a lifty about an hour after I arrived. I then moved in with them & shared a 12 bedroom house with some other ski bums!
There was no internet in those days (1989) & I had no work visa! I told the boss my passport was with The Australien Embassy getting a re-entry visa to OZ!! Some people on Mount Hutt worked part time in exchange for Free Ski pass & free lunch in the cafe! I actually got a second job in the evenings at Club 18-30 in Methven. I did an hours washing up in the evenings in exchange for free food & accomodation. The Jaccuzi partys were legendry!
So in short just make sure you go & enjoy!

I've done a few seasonal jobs, ski bum etc & my experience is that it doesn't really matter when you show up because these sort of jobs have a fast turnover of staff. You'll create your own luck depending how much enthusiasm you put in to it! I went to Mount Hutt beginning of July because they'd just had a big dump of snow & I walked straight in to a job!

Hi

Well as im from Perth in OZ I have never bought a season pass
Only day passes but they are all around the same cost anyway.

I have skied all the best south island resorts.
And if you want a job the smallest resort is remarkable
But the down side is if you're a fast skier/border your spend more
Time on the lifts than the snow
It takes 45 min to top from q/town. If you get a job there your get it for free

Cornett peak is concrete pit
Skiing is not bad but such hard snow good and café
Great night skinning with hot chocolate camp fire and DJ.

The best resort is if you intermatete-avanced is cordrona
Treble cone is great more advanced runs and smaller than cordrona
Treble cone has a breath taking view as well must see.

Did not ski Mt Hutt but herd great things about it and it gets the most snow fall
Out of all of them

Your find the entire web sites below in this site.
