If you read reports from the locals over 1.5M on top of La Balme/Le Tour area so we can only assume Grand Montets has significantly more. Les Houches even is already open and can be skiied.

90cm more due this week, which will put Chamonix significantly ahead of the curve for time of year :-).

For the person worried about no snow in the village, who cares, Chamonix never has and never will be a ski in out resort.

Pack your fat skiis, couple of pairs of goggles and get ready for awesome skiing, shocking visibility, plenty of face plants, huge smiles and associated hangovers (blame the face plant).

hardly nonsense. if you look back when the post was started the weather all over europe was terrible and many were concerned about when the snow would eventually come. even got a call from the hotel to look at arranging a different date . but that was then and now we are faced with what looks like good conditions early on. Really do hope they open some of the other ski areas as the 3 runs that were open this saturday was quite congested on the web cams ( granted i could only see a very very small amount ) guessing this weekend will also be much busier being th official opening weekend of the whole valley. fingers crossed now the weather is not too severe. but goggles are packed and so are the layers as its looking like being pretty chilly......
