Tony, I have visited that lady, (who is married to a mate) in NZ, twice. Have also caught up with ski friends in Sydney, Canberra, Perisher, Adelaide, Breckenridge, Vale, Whistler, loads of places in France, Italy and Switzerland.

No prizes for guessing where I met them!

Mayor, Wickers! Did you say Mayor? Only last season I was a legend. I blame the guvvermint, nobody's job is safe! Next season, I will be applying for a job as Admin's tea maker.

I'm sorry Tony, that is too long a word for me.

Taking this one back on thread I haven't forgotten to give you all my feedback on my skiing adventures in New Zealand just not had chance to do it yet.... I promise I should have time to upload photos etc in the next few days.

Needless to say I had a fab time and according to the locals the two days I skied were some of the best days they had had all season

So having had to forgo skiing in South America as there was no snow whilst I was in Bariloche and I then ran out of time when I returned to Santiago I was forced to pin my hopes on skiing in NZ!

Thankfully despite a week of indifferent weather I got to do two days skiing in some fab conditions (just a pity the same can't be said for the hire skis!)!

My first day skiing was to Coronet Peak. I was accompanied by a guy who had only done two weeks skiing and the last time had been 7 years ago so after a quick lesson on the learner/green slopes I headed off to do some mileage. I have to say that the resort was fantastic for all abilities and there was a lot of variation and ground to be covered in a day and it kept me entertained without a problem.

The views across the Southern Alps and to The Remarkables were amazing and definitely gave this resort a lot of appeal in my books.

My second day was at The Remarkables. This resort is very limited unless you are an experienced skier and willing to go off piste. Whilst the piste map shows the black runs I found that they were not marked out and not groomed i.e more off piste than true runs which is fine however they were showing a medium risk for avalanches on the day I was there. Added to this the black runs on the left side of the resort were shut off as there had been an earlier avalanche. Unfortunately as I was skiing on my own, in limited hire equipment and unfamiliar territory I was not prepared to go too far off the pistes - other skiers had no hesitation in going off and potentially it may have been fine but I played it cautious.

All in all I had a great two days skiing. I would love to return and test out Treble Cone and Cardrona as these were the two other resorts that people raved about whilst I was there!
