Apologies Tony, my sozzled girlfriend wrote that senseless email. I think she was trying to say that she likes to ride slushy, April spring snow. However, this isn't eveyone's cup o' tea.
I think March conditions are getting better everywhere in the world. It seems the seasons are shifting slightly later.

Slovakia is colder than most of the Alps (due to its' central Europe location) and the snow traditionally lasts a bit longer here; however it is hard to get historical data.

Hi and thanks for all the advice. My son suggested we try Jasna. Someone told him about it and he went last year. He rang and told us that we should miss a season here in Australia and come with him next year. Well we leave soon. I like the sound of slushy I think thats all I have ever had to contend with here in OZ. Some seasons here are great then we get seasons where there is very little snow and they sometimes cant even get the snow guns to work at night as its not cold enough. Last winter was OK but the one before awful. Skied one day out of five. Dont really like running my skies over rocks or have them grab the grass. It happens. Anyway Im really looking forward to our trip. Its got to be heaps better than the snow we get here. Thanks again. I think we're staying in a cottage. My son has organised it. Plus its not that expensive. Im sorting ski gear out now. Well thanks again.

I think you will have a good time here. Jasna is a great resort and the town (liptovsky Mikulas) at the base of the valley has a great variety of excellent quality, budget bars and eateries.

Look us up when you get here; it's always nice to speak the lingo... details at bottom of reply...

I tell you what Dan, your enthusiasm is tempting me to give this place a try. Not sure when though. Does it open pre Xmas?

Opening day is always Dec. 15. I believe this is an agreement with the National Park, who own the land. Last year there was 3 foot of the stuff and people hiking the hill in November...

Brilliant, thanks. I will have a look at theb flight prices and your chalet at that time for next season. Sounds and looks really nice.

chaletslovakia, you are doing a good sales role here... I was thinking of Spindleruv Myin last weekend in March but can't get reliable (or any actually) ideas of what snow conditions are usually like. What are current conditions and any decent forecast for next couple of weeks in Jasna?
Txvm.

Today, Monday 3rd March it's been dumping and is set to continue until Thursday. The forecast on this website is not bad; but do cross-reference it with another site for an average forecast.

Long-range mountain weather forecasts are not really worth paying attention to.
