I'm not a massive fan of the 3 Valleys, although I have been and enjoyed very much.
It just didn't grab me.
But, in April(2009) the snow was very good.
Better than Avoriaz when we went ( just for a day) and I think Avoriaz might have been a bad snow year, so hard to compare.

Not a place that I've ever really yearned for either. Although with such a big fan-base it must be doing something right. Only suggested it as a snow-sure alternative. I know I'd be mighty p!$$£d off if I went half way across the world to ski porridge and mashed potato. Off to VT (with an open mind) late April to extend my season because it's snow-sure.

Another snow-sure area in March is relatively cheap Cervinia (Italy) linked with Zermatt (Switzerland)with 3 glaciers to ski on.
The season in Cervinia ends in May for maintenance and reopens in July on glacier for Summer skiing!

Yeah... The truth is I have already looked everthing I had to look to go to Avoriaz and that took me some time. And now Im too lazy to look all over again. hehehehe
My hope about Avoriaz is not only about the history of previous snofall, but comparing the history to this year --> http://www.igluski.com/france/avoriaz-snow-report_23520
Cause right now they have the same snow depth as last year (and last year was a good one).
But I guees u guys are right.... My travel goes for 1000 dollars more than anyone already in europe... So trying to save some euros and choosing a doubful place probably is a dumb choice.

Avoriaz in March is pretty snow sure. The PDS in general has usually its best snow from mid Feb forward, I don't see why this year would be any different. Lower slopes being sticky - so what?

Hello Diogocyrineu.
Like you, our wee group had been hunting about for somewhere new to go in March and we came up with PDS/Avoriaz.
Previous years we've usually gone in late March, even early April, and managed to be very lucky with snow depth/conditions wherever we've been. (Last year VT, 2011 Tignes, 2010 La Plagne, 2009 Tignes etc, etc.)
We've already booked our (D.i.Y.) trip for March 16 - 23 in Avoriaz, so its too late to change now. We're just going to cross our fingers and take it as it comes.
I'm just back from Flaine and we had bucket-loads of snow, so if the trend continues, or is even maintained over the next 9 weeks, I don't think there will be too many problems. No matter where you pick, unless there's some quite unseasonally unusual freeze, it'll get soft, sticky & 'porridgey' at least down in resort level and probably all lower slopes of any place in late March/early April.
All the best with your decision anyway.
Maybe see you in Avoriaz.
