(Berangere = L2A)

Tarrentaise refurbished at the bigging of season by the looks. Very tidy & smart. Berangere was literal ski-in/ski-out but Tarrentaise the boot room was at the front and the slope at the rear...had to walk the full width of the building - shocking )

Otherwise menu and arrangement identical to each other.
if I'm not skiing then I'm kayaking.

Good work Smartski. I can't quite put my finger on it though, but I have little desire at all to visit the 3 valleys.

Excellent route! When I'm there next week, I'll have to try a variant of that starting from my chalet at the base of Bruyeres 1 in Reberty Val Thorens.

Smartski,
Well done for the write-up :D

I think I've skied all the pistes in your 'challenge' but not in one day! You must have been going pretty fast to get around all of those.

We stayed in Meribel centre, and I must say it was pretty noisy, but very convenient for the ESF lessons and Ski Club of GB which start from the Chaudanne - very close to where our apartment was.

Maybe we should try Mottaret next time?

I do really like the 3 valleys. The snow is good, the pistes are excellent and suit everyone from beginners to advanced, and the area is really well connected. I think the only downside is the cost and I suppose that's inevitable because the 3 V's are so popular.

We've been at peak times - Feb half-term and New Year - and not really had a problem with queueing apart from when all the higher lifts and pistes were shut after the big storm and avalanche. As long as you get up early you can generally beat the crowds.

Ally

No coffee breaks and just skiing as a pair is the trick.

It's more about being focused on where you want to go, I just hate 'faffing around' and having a democratic debate on which run the group would prefer at every junction. So follow me or see you later ) .

Interesting (sadly?) I had a GPS with me for the first time so could track cruise speeds which were about 30mph (steady & controlled for quiet pistes). Max speed 56mph on an empty run.

Great stuff (BTW Reberty is Les Menuires (just below Val T)).

From top of Bruyeres 1 & 2 you can start with "Lac de la Chambre" and come back to do Val T & Masse at the end, so you'll finish back on the door step of "Reberty" lift.

Have a fantastic trip.

Sounds like you had a great time...we did most of that except the lift up Le Caron..didn't have time (cuts a chunk off when you are in Brides)I know what you mean about skiing as a group ..lost mine going down la rocher noir(they didn't know left from right) and covered some real mileage after that..but the lifts on that side dont seem to really link..The improvements to la plattieres will really help next year to get there with a bit more time to spare

what I really miss about the place is the runs through the trees ...not many of them except in La tania,,and that was a bit slushy when we went..i missed doing jockey this time as its a bit low and didn't fancy water skiing
