I'd disagree. There are indeed ample areas, and runs for advanced skiing, but I'd say it's more of an intermediates paradise.

Ryanvp - I'd suggest Tignes. It depends on how quick you pick stuff up (my first time on snow, I was stepping into parallels on my second day) but you should be fine. There's a couple of tranquil ski areas in the Espace Killy area, and enough blue runs to keep you occupied for the week. The most important of your requirements is snow, particularly that time of year, and Tignes has a pretty good record.

I would tend to agree with Snapzzz, VT or Tignes. I would go for VT but only beacuse I have just come back. They advertise being open until 8 May - but of course it is all subject to snow.

If you have the time on your hands, arranging yourself would be preferable as it allows flexibility on flights, lift pass (get before you go), ski hire (pre book online)

Have fun :D

Tignes would be very high on my list too. Ideally in Val Claret for the night life and easy access to the glacier in the event of poor snow.

PS should point out that the poster said he was new to forums such as this, not that he was new to skiing.

Just to add I stayed in Les Brevieres Tignes, nice little village with great nightlife and good accomodation also less expensive than Tignes but great for the link into Tignes and surrounding area's! Stayed with a company called White Horizons catered chalet they do great deals and fab people!!!
