Didnt they get chance to get a picture!? I always have camera to hand for moments just like that!!!

Others dont tend to have one at the ready as it takes me 5 minutes to stand up!

I absolutely cannot get up with my skis on. Instructors have shown me the technique but my legs don't have enough strength (too much bulk to carry!). So I take my skis off, stand up, then clip them back on again.

Of course, there is also falling over in knee deep snow, put your arm to stand up and it goes up to the shoulder....another camera moment!!

On the very rare occasion I have a fall, which these days is only on off piste action, I use my poles. Dig in and push up. I'm far from super fit, but I dont find it hard to get up.
Generally I'll be on a slope steep enough that if you need to stand up, you simply push up into the mountain with your hands.

I had the same issue not fallen over for a pretty long time and last year doing some cool carves Mrs W got in the way and I went down on my bottom to avoid her and I actually stuggled to get up I suppose being a fat bugger didn't help .... I must practice more falling over

Mind you not beliving if some one does not fall over is a strange comment ... it all depends how much you push your skiing, I know my ability and I stay within that ability, hence no falls over, I have been skiing a few years now don't do moguls, dodgy kness to protect and I could never see any enjoyment in them, I don't do masses of off piste apart from taking little W between the pistes, I have to do the snow park now cause the little one wants to go and Mrs W won't go with her.

You admitted you fell over. Everyone does whether it be skiing, crossing skis at a lift or avoiding someone. Yes, it happens less as you get better, but it still happens. I still stand by my original comment at the start of my post.

I haven't counted the daft ones like when you get off a chair lift and end up on your backside, or cross your tips as you set off and face plant, or try and do a jump on the edge and land it wrong. Or simply collapse at the end of a really tiring itinerary route and cant get back up again!!
