I know this not may affect many of you but I've just read that all flights in and out of Newquay have been cancelled for three weeks from Sunday because of a problem over air traffic support.
Cornwall County Council, which owns Newquay Airport, had been due to take over air traffic operations from the RAF on 1 December.
But the council said there was a delay in securing a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) licence until 19 December.
The RAF have not been able to agree to the request to extend support to the airport, this is because the RAF personnel who are employed at the airfield are required for operational posts elsewhere.
The RAF decision not to continue providing air traffic cover means the airport is effectively without a licence until 19 December
Glad I'm flying from Exeter!!

Winter flights to Grenoble don't start until after the closure is over apparently.
I wonder if there are financial reasons for delaying the CAA licence?

Didn't look at the winter flight schedules. Doh! Should have checked before I posted.

Is this in any way connected to Ryanair, as Mr O'Saywhatyouthink has already said he is pulling out of lots of routes this winter.

No, it's all to do with the RAF moving out of air traffic control at RAF St Mawgan (NQY airport).
Mr Blimey O' Reilly from RyanAir has had a good moan describing Cornwall County Council as a 'Keystone Cops' operation. It's hard to disagree with him.
Suppose it could give him more reason to pull some routes.
