A bit of a daft topic I know, however not being a shopper-other than sports shops-please could someone let me know were to buy BW.

Having just purchased my very first set of skis I wish to protect them the bag throwers sorry handlers at Gatwick.

Stationery wholesalers usually have big rolls of the stuff. You might want to pack your thermals and socks round your skis instead, and save space in your case.

Really, there is no amount of padding you can give to your skis to protect them adequately during baggage transit. Protect the tips/tails/bindings and keep fingers crossed. Based on past experience I have opened my ski bag and checked it before leaving the airport.
The only solution is to buy a rigid SkiTube, pricey though.

We use a company called viking direct, we use stacks of BW. But I think Staples do it as well.

That reminds me:

Skidaddle.....can I have some more bubble wrap please, as I have 4 pairs of skis to transport this year!!!!

I have always wrapped bubble wrap around the skis, focusing on tips, bindings and tails as Bandit points out. When I had a single ski bag, standard kind of format, I used to pack socks around the bindings and wrap my ksi jacket and sallopettes tightly around the skis so that they had protection all round. However, make sure you turn the clothing inside out in case the edges nick anything, as I ended up with a 3cm perfectly straight cut right on the knee of my Columbia sallos last year, which never quite felt the same after Mrs H sewed it up as best she could! I small slash on the lining of your jacket is nothing compared to one on the outside, turst me!

Fortunately, last year I bought a big double ski bag which is triple lined, and also enable me to pack lots more clothes in around the skis as well. I cannot extol the vitrues of padded ski bags enough, and although its not on wheels and is quite heavy, its not difficult to carry from the baggage carousel to the coach or from the car park to the check in, etc. Mind you, I saw a few people ducking for cover when I turned round to check which check in desk to use......

Take an old wetsuit (long legs short arms). Cut it in half, vertically. Put one set of skis in each half before putting them both in your ski bag. It holds them together and protects them from each other, also protects your ski bag from the inside. By Billy the Bodger Ski Accessories.
