Last year I had a wonderfully sweet, white wine. It had a 14.7 alc. content. As you can see from my pics it was kept in a long neck brown bottle (which I hear white sachsen wines are kept in). The label on the side is small and black and believe it was a gluhwein (that's the question) On the other label it had a Minoan sculpture on a light orange back round. The bottles were rare and only sold a certain amount each year. The cost of the bottle was about either 16 or 8 euros. This stuff was quite simply the best wine I have ever had. I JUST DON'T REMEMBER THE NAME and I'm dying for another

I think this is more likely to be ice-wine than Gluhwein. Ice-wine has a high alcohol content and is extremely sweet due to when the grapes are harvested....at a particular temperature when the water content is low and the sugar content high. It is usually taken with dessert or after a meal.
Gluhwein is just your supermarket red heated up with sweetners and a little spice sometimes.
I think.

Not a big boozer but I've never heard of white Gluhwein although a quick Goggle says otherwise.
It's only a slope.
