Getting a bit concerned about the snow (or lack of snow) in Niederau. Going 1st March and bit concerned, can anyone shed any light whether Austria is expecting any snow. Thanks

You can get online snow and weather reports, you know????

Niederau is fairly low, and is one of the first to suffer from warm temps or lack of snow.

Jan Stenmark is your man on the spot in resort, send him a PM.

I would suggest you look for higher altitude next time you book!!!

We returned from Niederau last Tuesday evening. The snow was holding up really well. New snow fell on the evening of 6th February and well into the morning of Wednesday 7th. Although this is a low resort in comparison with others, just remember that Niederau is predominantly grass meadowland and so you only need a few centimeters to be able to ski....unlike other Alpine resorts which require several centimeters in order to cover the rocks.

There have been clear skies and sunshine not just in Austria, so most of the aki areas have been enjoying fine weather. The locals will do their utmost to ensure the pistes are at their best, so if it doesn't snow, rest assured the cannons will be running.

I've skied Val d'isere and Banff but I'll be returning to Niederau next year...my fourth consecutive visit. It's a gem of a place.

Have a great time in March...pop into the Sportcafe (next to hotel Austria) and say hi to Herta and Simon. Their aprés bar is a lively place to hang out.

The snow holds well in Niederau, due to the north facing slopes, and that the runs are cut through the trees. Also, the piste machine guys really know their job.

So unless there is a fehn wind, I would be very hopeful of good skiing at the start of March. I have been in Niederau for the last week in March for many years, and even last year, there was good skiing.

Will be there again on 23 March, for last week of season. Season last day is quite special, with lots of locals on the mountain top, including non-skiers. Skiing, modest drinking, several tyrol bands.
