Anyone got any advice or recommendations about this resort? Its one I am considering for next season, and would welcome and positive or negative comments.

Cheers

Went last year and going on Sat, so can tell you more in a week or so as conditions are better this year...

It's not a huge resort, but it has enough to keep most people happy for a week. Due to the conditions last year I wasn't able to explore much off piste. There aren't many challenging runs, but for blue / red run skiers its idea.

Obergurgl and Hochgurgl are 2 separate ski areas linked by one gondola, which when windy can be a little hairy :-) My preference, only just, would be Hochgurgl

If you pick the right hotel it's ski in /out which is always good :-) the accommodation is also a bit more upmarket than normal.

There aren't that many bars in Obergurgl, most of the apres ski happens in the Nuderhut (sp?), which is up the mountain a bit (expect dancing on the tables :-)).

Hmmmm.....I am a good intermediate who likes reds mainly, the odd black and a little gentle off piste action for a giggle as well. Blues are ok when youre tired or feeling lazy, but from what you have said, it may not be the right place for me.
I like "challenging" )

Hi Tony,

Just because the resort mainly has blues and reds, I won't let that put you off. If you get an instructor / guide they'll always find you places that you'll find challenging )

went in 2006 and it was brilliant for me and my family who were just starting out, absolutely beautiful and the nederhutte is definitely worth a go. however, the people in our chalet who were seasoned, hell for leather skiers weren't satisfied by the skiing. they did really enjoy their holiday though
