Hi,

Just wondering whether anyone had some experience with the Altibus transfer service from Chambery Airport to Val Thorens. They charge 70 euro return per person which makes it by far the cheapest option for two people, but I am a bit afraid that long transfer waits and multiple stops at other resorts will make for a very long journey. Also, the 5 am departure back to Chambery does not appeal. The best alternative is car hire, but with parking, snow chains and other extras this comes in at 350 euro, a bit steep. Train and taxi from Moutiers is not an option as the train back would not be on time for our flight.

Thanks!

My girlfriend is joining me for skiing, her second week on skis after 7 days in Switzerland for Xmas this year. She had a few private lessons there and is now considering either private or group lessons in Val Thorens. Any experience out there with the two main ski schools in ValTho (ESF and Prosneige)? She's had some poor experience in the past where the 'English Class' consisted of mostly Frenchman. This meant a 15 min explanation in French followed by the sentence: "And now, we go left!"

Hi, Prosneige give a 5% discount on Group Lessons for j2ski-ers and have instructors with good English skills.

There is a little more information, and the pricing for Private Instruction on our page for Val Thorens Ski Schools, and of course on the prosneige website.

Please let us (j2ski) know how you get on - partnerships with ski schools is one area we're looking at for the future.

Admin,

Thank you for the info. Prosneige looked a bit more expensive, but the discount helps and a personal recommendation is always good. ESF seems to offer a good private package though, so we will give it some more thought. Trip is not till early March (too cold there otherwise) so still some time left to decide.
