off to Austria soon ,cant wait .I think i saw somewhere that not many places in Austria take credit cards is that true ?. I was mainly thinking of the lift passes, skis and boots, and tuition.I dont want to be carrying too much dosh.

I think paying for the items you mentioned with a credit card should be fine. I think it's the smaller shops and restaurants where it becomes more of an issue.

Thanks for the prompt reply ,just totted up the cost of ski passes and the rest before coming online and had a major panic about cash

We experience a similar situation in Germany, very close to the Austrian border. €600 fee for ski hire and they only accepted cash or EC Card! We weren't prepared for that!

It depends on where you are in Austria. However, anywhere in Mayrhofen takes credit/debit cards, and if you cant buy lift passes on a credit card, buy them througha company rep as they will happily take them.

Niederau takes credit cards for the three services you list. Most, but not all hotels take them also.
